This contemporary residence was designed by noted architect Hugo Neuhaus and was completed in 1952. The home was composed in three volumes: the bedroom suite, central living and dining area, and kitchen. The original home boasted a wooded landscape. In 2005, the present owner bought the home and spent 15 months understanding the space before embarking on the current renovation of both the home and gardens. In 2007, the talented landscape architect, Johnny Steele, began to design a plan that has developed into the terraced gardens seen today. Extensive tree damage caused by Hurricane Ike in 2008 created natural openings in the gardens. Because of this drastic change to the site, a 2 1/2 year design and landscape construction process began. The gardens today were designed to be compatible with the simple and clean architectural style of the 1952 home. However, the landscape design also took advantage of the unique features found along Buffalo Bayou and as one moves into the site, the hardscape forms become more organic and begin to reflect meandering Buffalo Bayou shapes and forms!
