Home & Gardens - 3801 Chevy Chase
Originally built in 1941, this home underwent a major renovation designed by architect J. Marshall Porterfield in 2003. The remodel added space, flow and light while retaining the character of an older home. Inviting, tasteful and understated, it offers a great example of preserving but modernizing an older River Oaks home. The soft color palette offers a background for displaying beautiful antiques as well as antique and contemporary art, including several paintings by the owner. A screened porch offers the perfect setting for viewing the pool and side yard of azaleas. A pewter collection is displayed in the dining room and needlepoint pieces throughout were stitched by the owner’s mother. The back yard was landscaped by Thompson + Hanson in 2010.
