Azalea Trail
Stop Six
This New England styled clapboard salt box was designed in 1937 by architect John Rather, partner of John Staub. It now belongs to a Houston antique dealer/interior designer and his wife, who have filled it with an expuisite collection of Englis and American furniture, European art and Chinese export procelain. The house features original hardware, wood paneling, and random width, hand-pegged oak floors. The all whit gardens were reinterpreted in 1998 by McDugal-Steele and features a landmark rose garden and a number of old-style varieties of plantings.
