Azalea Trail 2014
March 7 - 9, 2014; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The house was designed by Houston architect Walter Murphy of Murphy Mears Architects and built in
2002 by Windham Builders. The architecture of the house was inspired by the Latin Colonial roots of
Texas and the Gulf Coast, but with the simpler lines of a 21st century house. The interiors mix treasured
family antiques and paintings with contemporary pieces pulled together by Marcus Mohon Interiors.
The professionally equipped kitchen with an indoor wood-burning grill attests to the owners' love
of cooking. The landscape was originally designed and is maintained by Exterior Worlds Landscape
Design. Recent additions were created by Johnny Steele Design with respect to the existing plant
material and include a swim-in-place pool and a garden motor court. The homeowners' love of plants
and gardening is reflected in the "specimen garden" style that displays a diverse collection of perennial,
annual, subtropical and native plants through the seasons.
